The SpamBouncer

SpamBouncer Variable Definitions:
AHBLDDOSCHECK

Variable Name: AHBLDDOSCHECK Default Value: no
Other Values: yes.

The AHBLDDOSCHECK variable controls whether the SpamBouncer checks the AHBL blocklist for IPs involved in distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks.

A DDOS attack occurs when a hacker takes control of many computers on the internet and uses all of them simultaneously to send traffic to the computers the hacker wants to attack. Hackers do this to flood these computers with incoming traffic, hogging all of their capacity and making it difficult or impossible for legitimate users to get through to use them. In extreme cases, a DDOS attack can cause a computer to crash due to the overload, or use all available bandwidth to it and knock it off of the Internet entirely. Most DDOS attacks are not carried out using multiple spam emails, but some are.

For more information about the AHBL blocklist, see the AHBL listing on the SpamBouncer's Supported Blocklists page.
