| Variable Name: | AHBLEXEMPTCHECK | Default Value: | no |
|---|---|---|---|
| Other Values: | yes. | ||
The AHBLEXEMPTCHECK variable controls whether the SpamBouncer checks the AHBL exemptions whitelist for IPs that are owned or operated by ethical, competent, and responsible individuals that do not spam, do not allow others to spam using their servers, and deal promptly and effectively with the problem when any spam is sent from their service.
The AHBL lists the IPS of mailservers owned and operated by people it trusts to prevent spam and deal quickly and effectively with the problem when spam is sent from their equipment without thir permission. Individuals, companies and ISPs cannot always prevent spammers from abusing their equipment to send spam, but CAN fix security problems when a spammer exploits a security hole to send spam, or terminate the internet access of any individual who spams directly from their site. Since the SpamBouncer checks whitelists before it checks blocklists, and does not filter whitelisted email further, enabling a whitelist allows you to ensure that email from responsible sites on the whitelist is never blocked.
For more information about the AHBL exemptions whitelist, see the AHBL listing on the SpamBouncer's Supported Whitelists page.
